What causes the change from good candida to bad candida?
There are many theories. Simple Home Candida Test:
Try this simple test to see if you have a candida yeast infection. First thing in the morning, before you put ANYTHING in your mouth, get a clear glass. Fill with water and work up a bit of saliva, then spit it into the glass of water. Check the water every 15 minutes or so for up to one hour. If you have a candida yeast infection, you will see strings (like legs) traveling down into the water from the saliva floating on the top, or “cloudy” saliva will sink to the bottom of the glass, or cloudy specks will seem to be suspended in the water.

If you have food allergies which develop from the leaky gut syndrome commonly caused by candida yeast overgrowth, (or possibly also caused by a combination of mercury and over-acidity as one doctor postulates) you need to do two things. Candida Yeast Infections and Mercury Toxicity
I have heard for years that candida yeast infections were related to mercury toxicity. After doing some research, I found out just how close that relationship was.
So close, it seems to me that a product and a supplement important to use, especially if you have had persistent candida yeast infections that keep coming back, (a clue that elevated mercury levels are indeed involved) is a patented, predigested brown algae concentrate called Modifilan and a Clay Detox Bath Kit for Dental/Mercury detoxification.
Many people have a hard time getting rid of candida, and more importantly, keeping it gone, because they have elevated levels of mercury.
Michael Biamonte, at his health clinic, tested the mercury levels in his patients with various illnesses. He found that 84% of his clients with candida had elevated mercury levels, and that they were 60% higher than normal. The exact same numbers held for clients with parasites. 86% of clients with Epstein Barr Virus had mercury levels elevated by 68%. This really opened my eyes to the damage high mercury levels can cause. There were several theories as to how mercury is associated with candida yeast infections. Everybody I read agreed that mercury toxicity damaged the immune system so badly it could no longer effectively fight candida, parasites, viruses or other yeast infections.
A more detailed explanation runs along these lines.
Mercury in the gut is consumed by candida yeast. (Comes from silver amalgams, eating fish, vaccinations, industrial pollution, etc.) Candida cell walls can bear their own weight in mercury. When the mercury load becomes too much for the yeast, it is excreted as methyl mercury, which is the most toxic form of mercury.
Methyl mercury is rapidly absorbed through the intestines. The blood stream then carries it throughout the body. It can pass the blood brain barrier, the placental barrier, and can be tightly bound into proteins, fatty acids, hormones, enzymes, nerve cells, everywhere.
Immune system macrophages patrolling the GI tract, consume mercury bearing yeast. They collect the various forms of mercury within and on the yeast as they eat them.
At some point the body becomes short of resources for combating both mercury and Candida. The macrophages are crippled, and unable to eat Candida. Glutathione to detoxify the mercury is used up, and cannot be readily produced because the amino acid supply is depleted. This makes it harder to make more enzymes. Which makes it harder to digest protein to get more amino acids. (Another reason to take an enzyme supplement.)
Getting rid of mercury is further confounded by the bile loop. The liver picks up mercury from the bloodstream where cells have put it to be detoxified. However, rather than getting eliminated something else happens. The liver apparently puts it into the bile in the intestines. Unfortunately, this mercury is rapidly absorbed once again into the blood stream with other fluids. So instead of the liver being able to get rid of the mercury it detoxifies, the mercury gets routed back into the body.
By the way, the normal recycling process of digestive enzymes is also disrupted by intestinal candida yeast infections. Important compounds that should have been reclaimed are excreted in soft stools and diarrhea. Short chain fatty acids and vitamins normally formed by the GI flora are lost or not formed.
The worst cases go systemic, with live yeast (still carrying some mercury) entering the blood stream through the leaky, hole eaten gut, invading every part of the body.
Methyl mercury binds anywhere and everywhere, in genetic dependent proportions. Females retain methyl mercury 2:1 over males. It accumulates in the central nervous system, the endocrine system, and every major organ, as well as the body at large.
Perhaps the most devastating are the pituitary, thyroid, hypocampus and adrenal gland methyl mercury accumulations.
